When they opened with “London Calling” I pretty much lost any perception of time or space. The best concert I ever saw and I saw a lot.
Me and Loki saw them around the same time at The Class of ‘23 Ice Rink (UofPenn). Some bad reggae band was the opener and they got bounced because the crowd couldn’t deal with them. (Loki may or may not have hit a drummer’s cymbal with a nickel.) To this day, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t hear correctly for 2 or 3 days afterward. Too bad Joe Strummer kicked early b/c they would still be great! Also saw them at JFK with The Who. Still love them.

Fairport Convention is the band. Liege & Lief was one of their albums.

Led Zeppelin - Presence and Neil Young - On the Beach.

Still can't tolerate most of their catalogs but those two albums are really good. The Zep album benefits greatly from Robert Plant having been in a wheelchair. Always liked the album cover of On the Beach, only recently got around to listening to it.

I hear old stuff I never thought I liked all the time on the XM deep cut stations. It amazes me that I own basically every album ever through Amazon Music. I suppose kids these days take that for granted. The downside is now I'm a grazer and never establish a relationship with an album like I used to.

Saturday Night Fever has to be on the top of the list, but on the other hand I always had a soft spot for the BeeGees stuff they made before the disco era.

Led Zeppelin Presence is one that I appreciate more now too, but the one I disliked more was In Through the Out Door. That All of My Love song just didn’t fit with my idea of what Led Zeppelin should be. I like it now. The one I really like from that album is Fool in the Rain. The guitar solo on that is amazing. It starts out as this guitar walk in the park and it turns into a sprint. There’s that calypso bridge in there with a whistle and then Jimmy Page just does that magic.

No problem. I’m notorious for that myself.

This is very true. I can mitigate this somewhat because frequently I am out of cell coverage so I will download the album for offline listening, which forces me to listen to what is on the device.

Also, the cover art isn't the same as it used to be. Something like the Morrison Hotel cover (just to give an example off the top of my head) was perfect to capture the essence of the music contained in the recording.

I can't think of any - my music preference has never changed. I still listen to metal. I hated Supertramp - still do. Hated the "boss" - still do. Hated the dreaded dead - still do.

I didn't own any of their stuff as it wasn't what I would normally listen to but looking back now the Bee Gee's material on the Saturday Night Fever album was outstanding. I remember seeing an interview with Alice Cooper of all people praising the hell out of it. I know they're not for everyone but Barry and his brothers produced some of the best harmonies in the business. Only Barry is still alive now which is pretty damn sad.

Violator and Ultra are my Depeche Mode go tos. Will have to check out Speak & Spell. Andy Fletcher died last year but Gahan and Gore put out new music that was pretty interesting this year.

Blue Oyster Cult released a ridiculously solid album in 2020. The Symbol Remains!

BeeGee's Main Course was my disco era guilty pleasure. Two Gap, be tender with my looooove ...
