There are differences in degree and their are differences in kind
Some people own one gun, some own an arsenal
Some people own guns for hunting, some for protection, some for target practice and some are treasured heirlooms from their grandparents. Some others own guns to protect the crack corner they fought to win from a rival gang. And some own guns because they were blessed with a very small wanker
And some are total assholes; not unlike any group of people we can clump together and make sweeping generalizations about
" All Philly sports fans are obnoxious loudmouthed fuckstains, they boo'd Santa Claus fer gawds sake" :D
See, that's the thing here. Assumptions and generalizations. Who in this thread said that a gun would have saved this woman's life? I missed it if that's what was said. Who even said that having a gun means "welp, I have a gun, now nobody can ever hurt me". No one can ever be prepared for every situation, that's not what it's about.
Another thing, I don't have a problem with anyone who thinks guns aren't necessary in their household, that's your right, good for you. But on the other hand, everyone who owns a gun is an NRA nutjob with an AR15 and an arsenal at their disposal who has their guns laying around mixed in with the toys in their child's crib. Some of the people's arguments on this board make them look like ignorant douches, just saying.
Some people can also make good arguments on both sides of the fence, nothing wrong with that.
And part of it is just trolling ... I get that too, lol.
Edit - not trying to call you out Ohio, you're alright... Diggle too believe it or not.
I'm not anti-gun by any means. Do I think that there needs to be some restrictions put in place/enforced ? Absolutely. I don't own a gun, and thankfully, I've never had a reason to. I just hate the notion that gun restrictions = gun removal. Some of the pro-gun people can be really irresponsible with the message they put out there, especially Wayne laPierre.
I don't own a gun. I want to. I just don't trust myself.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.
