It's not the same defense without Rodgers because the time of possession changes. That was a gassed Packer defense in the fourth quarter.

The Packers with an unprepared third string rookie QB are not a good team. See how many games they win before Rodgers gets back.

Although without the Boykin pick and Foles lucky passes, who knows.
the eagles d was out there longer than the packers d. if the packers d was gassed it's because they have to be fat and out of shape.

take away the 9 minute drive to end the game..packers had the ball for 35 mintues and the eagles around 15.

Do you even watch the games?

That "gassed" 4th quarter defense had been on the field for precisely 14:41 of the first 3 quarters.

You're making a mistake of equating Time of Possession to tiredness. Chip has talked about this before and so have other coaches and teams. TOP is meaningless in an up-tempo game because of how human muscle biology works

Once a player gets past the tipping point of being tired, fatigued, burning lactic acid- it doesn't matter how long he has to recover that day. He's done. And it can happen in the blink of an eye when an offense is running at full tilt. The mental anxiety of playing defense combined with the aerobic capacity of large- bodied NFL players makes it all work

That's what Chips offense is all about- it stresses the defense by limiting substitutions ...which forces them into their base or default defense

It also tires them out by running so many plays so quickly. By the end of the game, the offense is facing a base defense that is too tired to play anymore

He gets the look he wants and that makes it easier to score with a young QB

TOP is meaningless in the new NFL world, especially against Chip Kelly. His offense wins because it takes away the brilliance of Belichick, Capers and LeBeau and all the LOS checks and audibles for the defense

The key is to keep the Chip offense off the field in the first half as much as possible

And that 9 minute walk- off drive at the end of the game was superb, you got to see firsthand the killer combination of a shifty Shady and an over-tired defense. TOP means nothing

I love the way Foles has played but I understand those who think his skills are lacking. I hate to say that he seems like football's Jeremy Lin. He wouldn't put up these numbers in any other system.
I see him more as an andy dalton type qb. Dalton was pretty strong having his rookie season and wormed his way into the pro bowl. But daltons skill set is average in every regard and three years later people still wonder if hes good enough to do anything more than post 8, 9 victories a year by grabbing the low hanging fruit.

to be honest...i saw a pretty good description...chad pennington.

without the injuries i think that guy could have been a really good qb.

possibly...but the eagles d wasn't out there for 35 minutes just standing around. the packers offense was moving the eagles pretty well all game and with all their injuries i'm not sure how many players the eagles could subtitute.

but there is one other thing...remember at the beginning of the year when everyone was kind of thinking the smoothie/conditioning thing was dumb? i thought it was a little silly...but right now (injuries happen)...the eagles look to be a pretty well conditioned team.

If the Packers run more plays, the Eagles run less, however fast they run them.

The Packers couldn't run their uptempo with Tolzien, so yes the Eagle defenders were standing around for a big part of that 35 minutes. And the important thing from a biology point of view is that they are getting rest after each play instead of huffing and puffng their way through the next one

That's where Chips offense kills a defense imo.
Congrats on the win, NFC victories will become very important in the coming weeks

For what its worth, here is the post- game review from the Packers beat writer Bob McGinn. Some interesting tidbits in here and its always interesting to read it from the other side....

The Packers gave up a nine minute fourth quarter drive to the Bears the week before. Maybe they're just poorly conditioned.

That doesnt logically follow. The Eagles run fewer plays not because the Packers run many plays, but because the Eagles score on two- and three-play drives.

I think I'm on pretty solid ground in saying the less time you have the ball the less plays you can run at whatever speed. For Kelly's offense to deplete a defense, they do need to run a certain number of possessions and plays. I dont think you can overlook the Packers fourth quarter defensive collapse the week before. That wasn't because of Kelly's system.

I think the keys to the Packer game besides Rodgers were the pick by Boykin and the DJax TD that should have been intercepted. But Rodgers was the overriding factor.

                            So what?

If Foles overthrows that route nobody catches it.

And, more importantly, when GB got back in the game at 20-10 ... Foles answered with a drive, part of which was a big scramble, and threw a perfect ball to the other guy you don't like after he faked the safety out of his jock.

Then made a huge throw with guys in his face to Casey to keep the ice-drive alive on third down.

Now, go ahead and equate that with me saying Foles is going to the HOF.

EDITED TO ADD: It's not saying much to say the game is different if Rodgers is in it, that's obvious. But Foles still had to make plays to win what was in front of him ... and he did.

He didn't overthrow the route. He threw it into Packers double coverage.

That's like saying what if Vicks playoff interception had bounced off the defender to Cooper. Great throw then, huh?

i don't think anyone is disputing that it was a bad throw and he got lucky on it. That does happen. I think even he said it.

he said he underthrew the one in the endzone along with coaches and players so i can't dispute that because i don't know.
