Yep it's neither affordable nor available

And it will only get worse when young healthy people stay away like the plague.

Oh and my 93 year old mother-in-law's medigap premium just went up 10% - thanks maniac!

My mother in law signed up and got comparable coverage for about half the cost. The thing is whatever happens right now is is based off of speculation. The make it or break it will come once it is in place for a year or two andsee what happens. In an ideal world this will lower medical costs which should lower insurance costs.

That said I have serious doubts that those in charge of the government, the hospitals and the insurance companies will let that happen. But the system was ridiculously broken before this. Weather ACA succeeds or fails there are some good parts in it that hopefully can be built on. Unfortunately the game the democrats and the republicans play of making america fight with itself while they do whatever they want wont allow it to be built on.

Again, as the CEO of my organization stated: Change in health care is going to come one way or or another.

This is a strategic thing for people involved in health care. He basically told us not to pay attention to the political noise going on right now. He said what we are hearing now is political noise and driven by anecdotes like somebody's 93 year old mother in law ( and I hope she does well) .

We as an organiztion will win by not listening to partisans like you.

Exactly somewhere between what the Republicans say and what the Democrats say is the truth. The sad part is the Majority of Americans buy into what their party says instead of using their Brains.

Well I finally singed off on my new policy, this IS the bottom line, my deductible is over DOUBLE, my prescription plan pays HALF what it did, and my total out of pocket is more than DOUBLE, my monthly premium is up 25%
Sounds about right to me. Health care is expensive. No question Obamacare can be improved but some people are going to pay more than they are now. Obama was an idiot for claiming otherwise.

The object of raising deductibles to create price competition among providers. Now you have a reason to shop around for health care. Total capitalism.

Yeah coz 93 year olds are great insurance risks. In the purely capitalist system you want, she wouldn't have insurance at all. You're welcome.

Soo, if Obiecar care was legislated in tom. and you were forced to buy it, or pay a fine, and your car insurance premium went up 25%, your deductible doubled, your out of pocket cost doubled, and any parts your car needed going forward cost twice as much.

You would think it was a great deal?

This needs to be done, because as you know there are a LOT of uninsured drivers out there.

Let's compare it to the status quo.

I believe this is where your argument falls apart.

You really think your insurance would continue at the same rate without obamacare?

IE there are a couple of things you are missing, first, this is NOT what was promised, NOT losing my plan, NOT increased costs, NOT higher deductibles, NOT having to pay for 50% more of my prescriptions out of pocket.

I'm sorry that you can not see it, but there is NOT one piece of this puzzle that is better or cheaper than what I had, and THAT is what was promised, voted on, passed and sold to the American public.

It is, in a word, the biggest bait and switch scam in the history of this country.

As far as thinking my old plan would not increase in price, it probably would have, BUT for those of you that have not had to opt in an exchange plan, you DO REALIZE that there is NO guarantee that the cost of this new plan isn't going to rise.

In fact, one of the last small print sentences when you sign off reminds you that this is for a one year period and rates are subject to change, I think I know what that means.

OK, let's say you are right, and the insurance companies are taking a hit, I also think we have all heard of providers having to sign on for less money, in fact we will lose about a 1/3 of our specialists out here that are unwilling to sign on.

Combine that, with a LOT of us paying more, so answer me this, WERE IS ALL THIS EXTRA MONEY GOING?

And don't give me any crap about the older people in the system, you have seen the increase numbers on the Medi-care side, right?

Policies have always been one year, haven't they?

So from what I read, you believe you and your family are entitled to health care forever at the price you were paying before Obama became president.

                              Good luck with that.

Not at all, where in the world do you come up with that? I have had increases in the past, I believe we had one increase in the last three years.
