I agree with that, but I don't think he will command as much money as that article you posted thinks a year. I could see em doing a 4 year, 16 mil deal for him...and that would be fine. Maclin I have heard they would take a flyer on a 1 year deal and see how his ACL looks, fine with that too. Resigning both is fine with me. I can't see just flat letting Coop walk though, I would not be ok with that after that season.

You care more about the first 8 games played under a new offense and with primarily a different QB over the last 8 when he showed chemistry with Foles and had 27 catches for 571 yards and 6 TDs?

That's a ridiculously indefensible argument against him.

Give me football reasons why he should be re-signed. Cooper is just a guy.
He was a rookie. Our stupid QB made a pitiful throw and it was not knocked down. It happens.

You bring him back because your franchise QB has great chemistry with him, he made some game changing catches this year, he was a big reason why the offense had so much success, he's tall, he will come on the cheap, and it's one less thing you have to worry about early in the draft.

I for one wanted Cooper the hell out of here

but it seems Foles have a great chemistry with him. What if they bring back Cooper, Maclin, and Jackson all together putting one of them in the slot?

I'd love to see Maclin and Coop both on the team, but if it's an either/or, I'm 150% making Maclin priority #1. Especially with what Ertz can become.
It is an either/or. A quick look at the WR free agents tells you that the eagles actually have two of the better ones on the list. There will be competition for both of them. I don't believe the eagles can afford both. I wonder if they'll lose both. A distinct possibility.

I don't hate Cooper either, but it seemed to me that some of his teammates didn't go all the way forgive with him. Not that it really matters.

I'm intrigued by Hakeem Nicks and Kenny Britt. Both are head cases, though. I'd take either over Cooper.

                FWIW...

By my count, Cooper played in 33 games in which Vick was the starting/primary QB. He didn't receive a target in 15 of those games. They were mostly early in his career and he played mostly special teams at the time. In the other 18 games, he had the following line:

                48 targets, 21 receptions, 291 yards, 0 TDs

He played in 23 games with a different starter/primary QB...including Vick/Foles Vagiants and Foles/Barkley Dullass from this season. He had at least one target in each of those games for the following line:

                131 targets, 72 receptions, 1223 yards, 12 TDs

                Further Breakdown

                2010 Vick - 4 G, 5 targets, 3 receptions, 60 yards, 0 TD
                2010 Klob - 2 G, 9 targets, 4 receptions, 61 yards, 1 TD

                2011 Vick - 5 G, 8 targets, 3 receptions, 75 yards, 0 TD
                2011 Young - 3 G, 27 targets, 13 receptions 240 yards, 1 TD

                2012 Vick - 4 G, 11 targets, 5 receptions, 40 yards, 0 TD
                2012 Fooles - 7 G, 35 targets, 18 receptions, 198 yards, 3 TD

                2013 Vick - 6 G, 24 targets, 10 receptions, 106 yards, 0 TD
                2013 Vick/Fooles - 1 G, 1 target, 0 receptions
                2013 Fooles/Barkley - 1 G, 7 targets, 6 receptions, 88 yards, 0 TD
                2013 Fooles - 9 G, 52 targets, 31 receptions, 641 yards, 7 TDs

So feel free to make that data say whatever you want...

I will admit I would prefer the eagles resign him but only if the money is right. I'm sure he will get a better offer elsewhere though and leave as a UFA. A fresh start for both parties is probably the best option.

I'm sure there is still some ill will towards him from some guys on the team no matter what is publically said. A change of scenery for him might be the best for both sides so i am kind of hoping 1 team offers him more than he's worth.

I'd actually prefer resigning Cooper over giving Nicks a contract. He is ALWAYS hurt & his best production is probably in the rearview mirror.

let somebody else make that mistake.

                      Signing Vagiant castoffs?

No ... a proven bad strategy.

As long as we pay him as a #3 like a Avant-type guy

I'm on board with him coming back. he's absolutely NOT a #2 WR though. We need a better talent on that side to help open up Desean for more 1 on 1 coverage.

A healthy Maclin would be that, but I don't believe it's a reality on this point.

Of the Free Agents I'd rather have that Cooper as a #2

                          Eric Decker - Yes
                          Anquan Boldin - Yes
                          Hakeem Nicks - No
                          Golden Tate - Yes
                          Emmanuel Sanders - Yes
                          Jacoby Jones - No
                          Devin Hester - No
                          Ted Ginn, Jr. - No
Julian Edelman - No (too small on the other side of DJax)
                          Jacoby Ford - No
                          Robert Meachem - No
                          James Jones - Yes
Dexter McCluster - No, but think he's be interesting as a all purpose guy

Golden Tate and Emmanuel Sanders are both the same size as Edelman, who you said is too small.

                              Edelman- 5'10'' 198
                              Sanders- 5'11'' 180
                              Tate- 5'10'' 202

Not to mention IF he was to go elsewhere, I would hope like hell it's not another NFC East team, we have all seen the B,C,J's all come here and play like all-stars after they leave or are cut, Coop would come back and look like a cross between Megatron and Jerry Rice.
