Here in Boulder a lot of people are freaked about mountain lion attacks. My favorite factoid in this regard: more people are killed each year in vending machine accidents than are in mountain lion attacks.

When I first moved out here a guy was holding his five year old's hand walking on a hiking path and a puma came out and dragged his son off. Luckily other people started throwing rocks at the thing until it dropped the kid.

And stricter laws have been put into place in most states to limit/curb drunken driving which, as a result, has reduced the number of fatalities.

From 1982 to 2010, the population increased by 33% and the number of licensed drivers increased by 40%, meanwhile drunk driving fatalities decreased by 52%.

It's almost like stricter laws regarding dangerous behavior have worked.

So obviously more access to guns is required to curb this danger.

More Americans are killed by drunk driving, cancer, heart disease, stroke, accidents, etc. each year than were killed on 9/11/2001 or since by terrorists.

So why are we spending so much money fighting terrorists instead of funneling it into improving healthcare and workplace safety?
