Do you think that the world is only a few thousand yrs old and that it was created in 7 days?

Were his children circumcised? Does he judge people?

Actually science is wrong too. Carbon dating, half-life of isotopes...all bullshit. We date older things based on a bullshit formula that can't be proven because nobody lives that long.

So what the difference between science and religion? They both ask you to have "faith".
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

...and your argument suggests a false equivalence. For example:

I don't need faith to know that sugar will dissolve in water.

I do need faith to adhere to (some of) the Ten Commandments.

Science asks no one to have faith. One of the basic premises of the Scientific Method is vigorous testing of hypotheses in an attempt to disprove them.

Scientific methods often admit up front to a margin of error, as in the case of carbon dating. That isn't requiring faith, that's requiring math. Religion on the other hand rarely admits to a margin of error, either upfront or later.

And math btw is also a science and I don't need faith to know that 2+2 = 4.

Having said all that, I am a person of faith. But not blind faith.

But I would think the US is a little bit wiser then most of the world and a little bit more open minded.

Well, 77% of those 46% are from the South so you can make your own conclusions.

I generally try to stay away from this stuff on the board, but I think the fanatics need to be ignored. There are plenty of pastors and priests who acknowledge science, and say that the "days" in Genesis could simply describe 7 units of time, not actual days.
