Still should have held on to him til the Draft. The Browns didn't need a receiver too badly til Friday. Might have gotten something out of them.

The could have made a sweet deal with the Browns if they waited till the draft. After the Gordon suspension was announced, you would think they would want to give Johnny Boy a weapon.

I cannot figure out what part of 30 million dollars over the next three years people can't grasp here.

Nobody was trading for that contract ... and it's the reason the Eagles cut him.

Not gangs ... not his aversion to blocking ... not because he wasn't Harry's kind of player ... money.

Just like Revis, Ware and Peppers.

I'm going to explain the whole situation to you

Chip does not like DeSean Jackson.

Chip definitely does not like DeSean Jackson at that money.

Young players emulate veterans. Jackson is a bad influence on young players.

Jeff Lurie and Daniel Snyder are buddies.

Lurie and Snyder are more interested in making money than winning championships.

The dubious gang stuff about Jackson was designed to a) lower his value b) keep other teams away c) give Eagles fans an explanation for it c) make it easier for Snyder to sign him at a discounted rate

But it still doesn't make sense. Teams pay for performance. DeSean Jackson had a career year in his first year in that system. I think it's reasonable to think that he would only get better as he became more comfortable. If he had only put up 700 yards with 2 TD's, I don't think that anyone could blame them for letting him go. The numbers justify his pay rate, IMO. It's gonna send a real bad sign if it gets players to thinking that even if they perform at their absolute best, they'll be cut because the Eagles don't want to pay for that production.

Why does everyone keep saying this?

The Browns didn't even draft a receiver after the news broke about Gordon, why would they want to trade for a vet that makes 10 mil a year and was rumored to want a new contract that paid him even more than that? Think! This isn't a realistic scenario. Don't you think they called around for the last 2 years gauging interest? There was none, the contract killed it...and the fact it got out that he was on the block, usually teams just wait for a vet to get released when that happens. Thank Adam Schefter.

Who is throwing him the ball? RGknee played like total crap last year and is an injury risk to say the least. I would be more scared of Kirk Cousins at this point, and he sucked pretty bad last year too. Mejax will be scary on punt returns. You're delusional if you think 1 player makes a team better, unless its an all pro qb like Manning to the Broncos...it doesn't add wins.

Why did he have a career year?

Ask yourself that question. Teams were cheating run because they were having so much success running the ball, that left Mejax in "single" coverage where they just threw the ball up for him to run under it, with his speed it was easy for him to have a big year. He had a crap year just the year before, and has never done anything in the postseason. He wasn't worth the luxury, he didn't block. We are a running team first under Chip, pass second. I don't know why i have to keep explaining this, you should have seen this watching the games last year. Chip was trying to trade him as soon as he got here because he didn't fit what he wanted...big blocking receiver that can get open when he needs to.

Redskins + DJax > Redskins - DJax. I don't think he meant they're better than the Eagles.

Lot of balls to share around there now, Garcon, Roberts, Reed, Djax...and who knows if RG bounces back, i can see it blowing up like the TO thing did with Dallas, he started complaining once he wasn't seeing as many balls thrown his way. Also, how do we know the new system Gruden runs will even be capable of spreading the ball around that much, all i saw was AJ Green and the running backs killing it in Cincy...not much other than that.

Did he perform or not ?

That's the bottom line here. They asked him to perform, and he did, to the level that it was the best year he's ever had as a pro. he performed the way they wanted him to, and for that production, he was paid accordingly. Chip keeps saying that he wasn't a fit for what they wanted him to do, yet he put up 1,300 yards receiving, and even with him not blocking, Shady somehow ended up leading the league in rushing.
