So in this case if white men were interned in ebola camps, there would be outrage. Long disquisitions about the jackbooted federales impinging on our liberties while welfare queens were free to swill ebola juice and spit it on children while dipping their lobster in ebola butter. Or something along those lines.

Dimmy, we are close to the same age, Ill be 57 in another week, and yes, God forbid a white male, I can only assume how you have come by your opinions because I have never walked in your shoes, as you have not mine.

But at some point I would like to trade shoes with you, your outlook intrigues me.

In 2008 alone the US sent over 50 BILLION dollars to Africa for AIDS victims, so would you like to take a guess what the rate of Aids was in 2008 compared to today?

BTW, the 50 BILLION was JUST from the U.S. and just the tip of the iceberg, there was a good article on this "All Africa" if I can find it I'll post it.

The culture itself has to want change.
      Ebola isn't AIDS.

How about more money to research? More money to organizations like Doctors Without Borders who are in dire need of it. I'm not talking about blindly "throwing money away."

The culture itself has to want to change? I recommend you read up on the current state of this crisis before you post anything related to it because you're coming off as completely out of the loop.

It will come out that the Texas Hospital, since it was denied the increased medicaid coverage by its illustrious Governor Perry, was instructed to send people home rather than treat what they assume are trivial medical issues. thereby propagating EBOLA in the good ole US of A

. That is what I mean by "Red State Hospital"

Long story short: White guys with money call the shots on both sides in DC. Yes there are exceptions but the exceptions are a small percentage of total dollars thrown at politicians. And if you even think about doing something to really impact them, the money will dry up and you will be copy editor for the Camden Courier at two am after the next election. If you're lucky.

I'll be in my bunker if needed.

Maybe you are right, I have never been to Africa, but as mentioned on here before over my years I have donated countless hours, money and equipment to emergency and catastrophe efforts.

You run into all kinds of people in these circles, most of my opinions were formed by talking to first hand missionaries and corps workers that have spent time in Africa. That is what I was eluding to.

Eh, all hospitals do that. Federal law obligates hospitals to make sure a patient is stabilized before they send them home or send them to another facility. No hospital is going to admit an uninsured person who they think just has the flu or whatever. The problem was with the botched diagnosis. If they knew he had ebola the first time they would have been required to admit him.

Ok, I got ya now, I thought you were talking about old white men in general, I can assure you I was not raised with a silver spoon, nor was I afforded any special privileges because of what I was or wasn't.

I have had more than my share of ups and downs, but I am thankful for what I have, who I am, and the parents and grandparents that raised me, I try my best to treat people as they treat me, piss in my Cheerios and you get the same, go out of your way for me and I will return in kind, and if that is wrong,, well then tough shit I guess?

I know what you are referring to. A lot of people remain stubbornly resistant to scientific and medical advancements that would drastically improve their health and lives.

That being said in my opinion this is an entirely different animal. The situation is spiraling and with a severely underfunded relief effort there is no practical solution.

Everyone (people, governments, etc) appears content to sit back and hope for the best when they should be preparing for the worst.

Definitely K-state in this neck of the woods, although there are also a lot of Nebraska fans out here as well, I'm only 30 miles from the state line.

I have to admit though growing up I always wanted to go to Penn State, but just could never afford even off campus.

One of them still holds the Nebraska HS punt return record of some kind.

I agree, and that is what I meant by the culture has to change, it took some African leaders well into the 90's to even admit there was a problem.

I know that a guy I had meant while down in Florida helping with the Andrew cleanup had told me stories about his time in Africa.

He said after the Aids story blew wide open the village he was in received this big crate, it was full of condoms, he said he would bet money not one condom ever found it's way onto a swinging dick, but he did say that all the village elders thought it was great that the kids had a year long supply of balloons!

Others told me stories of rice, grain and meds being confiscated by "soldiers" that said they were needed elsewhere, only to be sold on the black market by that regions leaders and the money pocketed.
