Kinda in the same boat as old Man Big little - been with the same co. for 31+ years and was lucky to get talked into keeping the old defined benefit pension plan when they phased it out 27 years ago.
So my dad and a lot of his teacher buddies retired between 55 and 57, and none of them could sit still.
One became a greens keeper at a golf course, and really loves it and the free golf that comes with it.
This may sound strange, but another got a gig he really likes at a funeral home, helping with parking, and getting the flags on the cars during services.
My dad retired at 59 from his job as a junior high school principal on June 30 and on July 1 had started as the business manager at his golf club. He wasn't ready to retire but the school district made him a retirement offer he couldn't refuse.
My brother who still has the first dollar he earned will retire next year at 56. He and his wife made a plan and carried it out.
You talking Lancaster County? There is a big auto auction around there that is always hiring drivers. They bring the cars from the yard to the auctioneer.
