Just stopped by to mourn the loss of a true Icon

growing up as a kid Ali was across the board the best known, most entertaining Athlete ever! THE ........ and will be forever..My father was an avid boxing fan and saw him fight as C Clay. In 73 or 74 he took my brothers to MSG to see Ali- Frazier I think...I remember being so bummed I was too young to go!!! very sad to hear of his passing,,he was an awesome person , an Inspiration for generations, in so many ways!

      RIP Ali,,,

Mr. ALI HELD TO HIS BELIEFS AND WAS WILLING TO TAKE THE PUNISHMENT, LOST HIS TITLE, LOST MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, WILLING TO GO TO PRISON, FOR HIS ACTIONS.
HOW MANY OF US WOULD DO THAT?

HE WILL ALWAYS GET ALL OF MY RESPECT.
IN MY YEARS ON MOTHER EARTH I HAVE NEVER SEEN A MORE SCIENTIFIC BOXER, THE MAN WAS AMAZING. CHANGE STYLES OF FIGHTING BETWEEN PUNCHES.

MY FATHER TOOK ME TO ELLIS THEATER IN FRANKFORD, TO WATCH ALI- FRAZIER ON CLOSED CIRCUIT. THINK IT WAS 5 BUCKS, MY EYES WIDE OPEN ALL NIGHT. NEVER FORGET IT.

SOME HUMAN BEINGS LEAVE NO FINGERPRINT ON HUMANITY, SOME HAVE AND YOU WISH THEY DIDN'T, HIS ARE FAR REACHING, TO EVERY ONE ON EARTH.
        MR. ALI. FARE THEE WELL.

You're right. If you served, I humbly apologize. Frankly I rarely read your posts. In this thread you have inaccuracies about the Vietnam era, which I pointed out and which shed your opinion's credibility.

          That is all.

          So, did you serve?

Ok, i will admit, I didn't have all the facts about his military service, i was under the impression he went to Canada after he was drafted, i stand corrected and apologize to the board. I still didn't like his antics in the ring and his horrible treatment of Joe Frazer.

I believe that his 1966 fight with George Chuvalo in Toronto was after he had been stripped of his belt by the WBA but hadn't been banned yet, at least he was able to fight here before the ban took effect everywhere. So he did kind of come to Canada, but he definitely didn't stay here for any amount of time avoiding the draft. His treatment of Frazier was racist in my opinion as I have said in earlier posts.
