Yep ... sometimes you get a player who the other team just doesn't want to pay and is worth the money (Hugh Douglas/Terrell Owens) and sometimes he ain't (Jevon Kearse/Roach Murray).
Obscenity is the last refuge of an inarticulate motherfucker.

If Jeffrey were to extend as part of the trade, I'd be down, although knowing you can get him at the end of the season, makes it less palatable. Plus, no reason for Jeffrey to extend unless he's worried about injuries.
Exactly. Smith is the only deal that makes sense.

I love when you slobber over Jeffrey.

        I TOLD YOU SO!

But he'll definitely be going to the highest bidder (or he would have signed with the Bears) and that won't be the Birds. Another Maclin.

Smith's remaining contract is a deal if he produces.

Why would any team abandon a strategy that builds winners? How many players did they draft this year are actually contributing? I see several. Sure, they've had failures in the past but lets not forget the importance of the draft over free agency. The more picks the better the odds.

Signing Jeffrey to a big contract is a bigger risk than people realize. He's far from a guaranteed contributor like TO was. I get every free agent is a risk but overpaying to bring 'big name' players here has a low success rate. You have to factor in the fact that teams are letting these players walk for a reason. It's not always cap-related.

I'm not opposed to the idea of trading for Smith (at the right price, of course). I understand the fact that the Eagles aren't going anywhere this year. But I can see the value in providing Wentz at least one competent receiver to develop with over the rest of the season.

I think that's my real sentiment. However, the NFC is wide open, so if the price is right, I'd take a shot. Also, I have a fear that we might see McNabb receiver redux

Agreed. It's absolutely worth a shot. We're not talking about leveraging the future for a band-aid; We're talking about a 27 year old who adds exactly the dimension this team is lacking, who can probably be had for a middle round pick. Jeffery is a pipe dream. Smith is totally logical if the price is right.

While I am generally against signing players that other teams are willing to shitcan on the basis that there is probably a good reason why, when it's Chump Kelly shitcanning players I say let's get us some.

So who knows what those numbers are, I thought this was a contract year for Him....Id rather have Jeffery but there is no way Da Bears let him go.

                                We're good there.

Although, Chip wanted a 3rd and they offered a 5th. I don't blame them for rejected.
