BUT IF IT WEREN'T FOR THEM BLUES GUYS, MUDDY, HOWLIN WOLF, MR. JOHN LEE HOOKER, LEADBELLY, OR THE MAIN MAN ROBERT JOHNSON, WOULD THERE BE AN ERIC CLAPTON? OR EVEN ROCK AND ROLL?

BUT THIS IS OFF SUBJECT. JON ANDERSON IS THE MAN AT ONE, FREDDIE IS SECOND.

DON'T YOU HAVE TO TOSS GEDDY LEE AND JUSTIN HAYWARD IN THE PILE?

AS FOR GRABBING AN AUDIENCE AND HOLDING THEM, PAUL RODGERS WAS, STILL IS VERY GOOD FRONT MAN. I'VE ONLY SEEN PETER WOLF ONCE AT JFK STADIUM, BUT THAT DAY WAS A BIT FUZZY, SKYNYRD TORE THAT PLACE UP. FRAMPTON, DICKEY BETTS. GREAT SHOW.

Justin was great, alot of people forget

some would't throw Geddy or Jack Bruce in there,, but they did their jobs better than anyone In business, My wife would say Bob Weir, cause she just loves the Dead

Freddie was the most talented; and had the Stage presence and writing ability to go with his voice,,Range on stage will never be reproduced.

I agree - they put on a great show and Trent is pretty much the whole thing.

As purely a front man? Freddie Mercury. The man flipped a switch when he hit the stage and carried his audiences in the palm of his hand. There hasn't been a frontman like him since. See the Live Aid show at Webmley. He had an insanely powerful voice, and the Note Heard Round The World during his vocal improvisation bit is amazing.

As a musician, I gotta give a nod to Geddy Lee as well. Love or hate as far as his voice goes, but the fact that he could so very well multi-task on stage while singing Neil Peart's lyrics deserves at least an honorable mention. Playing keyboards, bass parts by foot, and singing lyrics about trees battling each other takes some damn skill.

FROM THE LOOKS OF IT, FREDDIE IS KING, OR QUEEN AS IT WERE, ( IN MORE WAYS THEN ONE). WHICH IN MY BOOK IS A HOME RUN. LIKE YOU SAID HIS DEMANDING STAGE PRESENCE WAS OVERWHELMING, THAT CAN NEVER BE DUPLICATED, NOT EVEN CLOSE.

MY HEAD SAYS FREDDIE, MY HEART SAYS JON.

SURPRISED PLANT KINDA GOT AN HONORABLE MENTION.

It's fashionable to hate on Springsteen, but he deserves a mention here. Bruce lives to perform, and he's pretty damn good at it.

Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins, both with Genesis, would be my top choices.

Gregg Allman is another one. Fillmore East is one of the finest performances ever committed to vinyl. He didn't dance around the stage, but the man could put on a show.

                              Waldo Springsteen!
