Next the liberal media or the ACLU will complain that sending kids into timeout will be a harsh crime.

Shouldn't he get his day in court first...before the ban?
It depends on how outraged the liberal media will play it.

Seriously though, does that go for anyone involved in DV? You would think that you'd have to get convicted by a judge/jury before getting suspended by the NFL...

Ray Rice was not convicted of a crime in NJ.

You're right, because the laws vary from state to state. The circumstances with the video change that a bit.

If what you're saying is true, how is Ray McDonald allowed to play?

Brett Myers played baseball without skipping a beat. Seeing the live footage changes everything about the Ray Rice story.

If there were video of Brett Myers putting a new asshole in his wife, Selig would've had to address everything like Goodell.

My point is that leagues don't (and shouldn't) tie themselves to the justice system. If they did Ray Rice would be playing. The league can make its own determination, based on the facts it gathers, as t o what should happen to AP. It's a private entity.

You're right. However this is pretty tricky. Many people (and perhaps some states) might not consider what AP did to be domestic violence. Some might just call it old-school parenting.

However, the new Domestic Abuse Policy means that if the league decides to call it domestic violence, it's pretty clear-cut what the consequences are: suspend a superstar for a MINIMUM of 6 games.

Unless, of course, they are willing to abandon that policy right out the gate, which would be a P.R. nightmare, considering the policy was an attempt to stem outrage from the Ray Rice fiasco. The alternative is sanctioning AP's actions as acceptable parenting, and I highly doubt they want the backlash from that.

It's basically a confluence of forces that has painted the NFL into a corner where it has to make some sort of major social and cultural statement, and no matter what they do, some people are gonna be pissed.
